Swiss 8 was founded in 2018 by former infantry section commander, Adrian Sutter. After losing his sister to cancer and leaving the military without any transition guidance, Adrian experienced anxiety, depression and suicidal ideation. With little to no support or education available at the time, Adrian spent 8 years riding the mental health rollercoaster, searching for answers and better ways to improve his mental health.
Adrian watched many of his closest mates struggle through the same obstacles and suicidal ideation. Many taking their own lives.
Through discussion with these mates and the subsequent surveys of post transition combat veterans, he realised that they were disconnected, lacking identity, purpose, and proactive mental health education. This is a symptom of our healthcare system being a reactive and pharmaceutically driven model.
Refusing to let his turbulent experiences dictate the rest of his life, Adrian decided to disrupt the decaying health care model, by creating a new way of life – tackling mental ill-health proactively.
Building a routine around fitness, nutrition, sleep and mindfulness is what allowed me to maintain and improve my mental health when I left the military. Now, thanks to this app, the entire Veteran community will have access to these life saving tools.
Swiss 8 is not just an organisation; it's a movement. Born from a deep commitment to service and enriched with the wisdom of experience, we're a tribe of veterans and partners dedicated to a singular mission: transforming mental health support for veterans. Our approach is rooted in lived experience, creating solutions that truly resonate.
Our Mission: To provide proactive mental health tools to Veterans and their families for free.
Through Recalibr8, we encourage veterans to reclaim control, purpose, and joy in their lives. This program isn't just about coping—it's about thriving.
Why Us? Because we've walked this path. Swiss 8 stands at the intersection of firsthand understanding and innovative action. We bridge the gap with practical, accessible programs designed by veterans, for veterans.
Be Part of the Change: Swiss 8 challenges the status quo, advocating for a future where veterans are celebrated and supported beyond their service. Join us in this mission. Together, we can be the support our veterans deserve.
During my time in the Australian Defence Force, I served in Afghanistan with Swiss 8 Founders, Adrian Sutter and Anthony Meixner. I can confidently say that this is one of the few organisations lead by Veterans who understand the core issues being addressed.
I am continuously impressed by the research focus Swiss 8 has adopted and will do everything in my power to ensure my colleagues in Canberra support Swiss 8
Since our launch in 2018, we have reached millions of people with our campaigns, assisting to destigmatise mental health and create substantial social action.
The Challenge: Swiss 8’s quest to deliver proactive mental health support encountered an unexpected hurdle: a funding landscape dominated by established entities resistant to change. Despite the proven effectiveness of our programs, securing financial backing from traditional sources—government bodies and large veteran organizations—proved arduous.
The Response: In the face of this, Swiss 8 pivoted, embracing a social enterprise model under the brand Recalibr8. This bold move was designed to democratize funding, inviting the public to directly support our mission. Now, every purchase of Recalibr8 products fuels our ability to offer them to veterans at no cost.
