Shifting Paths for Veterans – From Caged to Free

Our Vision and Mission
Swiss 8 Helps veterans who have been missed by mainstream approaches to mental health.
We have successfully delivered Swiss 8 mental health and rite of passage training programs to over 2000 veterans. Now we need to build Swiss 8 a home.
A purpose built facility for complex case veteran wellbeing. NinGula Homestead in Monkerai.
Why NinGula Homestead?
-
Monkerai is our purpose-built veteran retreat facility in the Aussie bush. It's the hub for shifting paths—nature immersion to break the cage. DVA-funded retreats: 7-9 days onsite, 12 veterans per month, full clinician integration. Comprehensive care: Osteopathy, functional medicine, GPs, psychologists, dieticians, exercise physiologists, social workers. Pre-screens and ongoing check-ins—covered for high-needs vets. Outcomes: Reduced suicide risk, better resilience, behavior shifts (think/talk/feel/act to move from struggle to freedom).
- Traditional programs fail complex cases—scattered care, no immersion, no breaking the chains of current routine.
- Swiss 8's model is unique: Proactive, not reactive—focusing on high-suicide-risk vets with tailored, clinician-led, lived experience guided, support (action, strength, purpose). Blending NinGula's ancient wisdom with modern science.
We've seen the gaps:
-
Clinicians helping vets individually but lacking case coordination.
-
Complex cases showing no results from talk therapy.
-
Veterans applying interventions then quickly falling back into old habits.
- NinGula Homestead is a facility purpose built to provide immersive retreats for veterans who need a circuit breaker.
- 111 acres of rural land for immersive retreats—5km tracks for training, cabins/shed for wellness hubs.
- Purpose-built for complex case veterans—high-risk groups get coordinated care in nature, away from urban noise.
Not a spa—raw, real:
Breath work by fire, osteopathy, dietetics, exercise physiology, tribal bonding, story circles with veterans who successfully completed the program.
